Christmas at the Foltz House

Christmas is my favorite time of the year! I wait all year just to hear Christmas music, put up tons of lights, decorate a real tree, have hot cocoa, looking at lights, watching new and old Christmas movies, start new fun traditions, and completely redecorate my house for the next few weeks. I am mothers child when it comes to decorating the house for Christmas.

I cant wait till next year when Paisley will be almost a year old and we can do lots of  new things with her and start even more new traditions! It will be so fun, though, a little bittersweet since this will be the last Christmas with just my hubby for years and years to come.

Generally, since I have been married to Aaron we spend the afternoon and evening after Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas, but somehow this year, we never got to it till Saturday, and it took us alll day looong. I think, most of it stems from being at the end of this pregnancy and not having the stamina that I use to once have. Maybe next year right?

Well, for those of you who live far away, we wanted to include you in our decorating fun this year and let you see what our house looks like this season. I still am wanting to get a mistletoe to put somehow and somehow, our stockings have gotten misplaced so my mission this week is to find them and get them up! But for now here is what we got :)

Found this centerpiece on Pinterest and how to add a little to it, but I fell in love with the simplicity of it.

Our tree!! Lots smaller than what we have had, but with a baby coming I guess it will do for this year :)

Aarons creation :) I love it!!

We had a traditional "Believe" sign, but a rat or squirrel got it in the attic and chewed it all up, but I think I like this new one better :)

I found this table centerpiece on a website somewhere and recreated it to my liking and I am quite pleased.

Thats all I have to share. I have a few other things we did, but it wasnt worth the picture taking :)

Merry Christmas!!

Just a few finishing touches to Paisley's Haven....

Here is the last few completed pics with the lamps. This was all Aaron and what he wanted and I am very, very pleased with how it all came out!!

Aaron saw on the website where we ordered Paisley's bedding a little light above the crib, so when we stopped at Ikea I was sold on just the lamp version of this chandelier, but when we saw this, we both knew that was the finishing touch to the crib area :) Love how it came out! We do need a dimmer on it though, so eventually that part will happen!

Here is the completed look for the bookshelf. I didnt want to not put a lamp on the bookshelf so I found a Plan B to replace the original idea :)

AND WE ARE FINALLY ALL DONE WITH THE NURSERY!!!!

33 Weeks

Happy Happy Thanksgiving!!!

How far along? 33 Weeks!!

Due Date: still January 11th, but we just changed doctors so maybe she will have something new to say next week! Heres to hoping...

Total weight gain: 19 pounds

Maternity clothes: this week has been rough to the point I dont even want to get dressed! Jeans, yoga pants, comfy shirts, sweaters, belts and leggings

Stretch marks: Nope!!

Sleep: Generally I fall asleep on the couch and then head to bed and from there, its waking up every few hours to get comfortable. Doesnt matter if its 3 or 4 pillows I just cant seem to get a rhythm going. I know you are suppose to sleep on your left side, however, I wake up on my back and find that its a little better.

Missing anything? Missing getting to fit into my clothes haha and getting to sleep, but I know my sleeping days are pretty much over from this point forward. I do miss my family :)

Food cravings: Raw veggies!!!

Anything making you sick? Not this week

Movement: Lots of rolling from one side to the next. She is up in my ribs and man it hurts!! Loves to have her bum tucked right up close to them and feet in my side. Makes it hard to do lots of things or to sit for very long. She is stubborn too and doesnt want to move from there.

Gender: still a girl!!

Belly Button: Innie

Rings: still on, although this week I have had some swelling in my hands and feet

Mood: sooo happy Aaron is on break!! Tired, but I love that its Holiday week!

Best moment of the week: Aaron having a break from school, Thanksgiving, spending time with family and shopping!

Looking forward to: getting to see our maternity pics that we did this week! We had fabulous photographers and I cant wait to see the final products :) Just the pics themselves were excellent!!

Thanksgiving & Such

The Holidays are in full swing at the Foltz house! I love, love, love this time of year so much, but it always feels like it just flies by. Every year I tell myself to slow down the following year and take it all in slowly, but every year that never happens. ha!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Aaron's moms house with lots of yummy food! I was in a way dreading Thanksgiving meal knowing that there would be lots and lots to eat and I would pry feel sick, and these days it only takes 10 bites and I am stuffed, so to say the least, we ate, but I somehow didnt eat as much as I thought I would. Praise the Lord! Aaron and I made cheesecake like we do every year for Thanksgiving and it turned out amazing! We made a Salted Caramel Cheesecake and it was to die for! It was not sweet or too rich at all, but just perfect. It did take us all day the day before to do all four parts of it :) The caramel on top was the best part of the whole thing!!

If you would like to try it here is the link (You wont be disappointed!): http://www.food.com/recipe/salted-caramel-and-vanilla-cheesecake-488177
Doesnt that look yummy??

Friday, we spent the day....Shopping! Who would have guessed it!? I think I will re-think that idea next year with a baby because it was insane, but then again who tries to go the mall on black friday? Not smart. We did score some sweet deals though so I wont complain too much :) Best gift of all....the dutch oven I got for an early birthday gift! Will post pics when it gets here! I am so excited!!

All in all, I enjoyed getting to be with family, but sad that I was missing my family back in CO. Aaron had most of the week off, and there are no words to say how wonderful it was to have a break and just get to hang out together and not worry so much of having to get soo much done and be in soo many places during the week. It was a good break, but way too fast like it normally goes ;)

Hope you and your families had a Happy Thanksgiving just as we did :)

Paisley's Haven

After much work, the nursery is now complete! I couldnt be more excited to have finished this project and to have it behind me! Now we get to focus on the last few details before this sweet little girl comes.

View from the door

When looking for cribs, the only thing I had my heart set on, was a white crib. I just did not like any of the light colored wood ones, and even the darker ones just didnt have the "sophistication" and elegance that was looking for in a little girls room. Luckly, Target had a cheap one and gift cards covered most of it :)

It took me months to make up my mind on what I wanted to do for a nursery. I think the idea must have changed several hundred times. From the start I knew I wanted something clean, something girly, something vintage, something cozy, calm, and clean. Then, I found I had an idea to go just really girly with lots of color and sass, but somehow I ended up going back to my almost original plan.

I saw an idea like the frames above on Project Nursery, and it completed the final look...the last wall that I had spent weeks pondering over what to do. I was able to find cheap frames at Ross that we spray painted white or took the glass out of. The "Amore" sign I had gotten last year for our bathroom, but I think it fits nicely in our daughters room now :)

I never thought we could find a white glider that would look nice, let alone match in her room. All the credit goes to Aaron! He looked all over and found this one on Target, AND it was on clearance!! I was prepared to go with Plan B and get a dark colored one with cream fabric, but I am so in love with this chair!!

The little bow frame by the glider was a pinterest project. Where would we be in the world without pinterest?? I found the frame half off at Michaels, spray painted it white and added ribbon to the back of it. Every girl needs something for her bows, right?

My favorite part of the room for some reason. I just love the dresser that we purchased on Craigslist and redid ourselves with help from my father-in-law. The signs I did. I saw ones similar on pinterest and I just couldnt bring myself to spend the $40 a piece for them, so I figured out a way to make them on my own. Took many hours stenciling, but the hardwork paid off!

The first sign is from the book, "Love you Forever" A childhood favorite of mine, that I wanted to incorporate with all the new memories of my own family. The second sign, "Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move mountains" had some depth for me. God gave us several words concerning Paisley, and I know one day she will move mountains and I want her to always be reminded that she is able to accomplish all that she sets her heart on because God has a mighty big plan for her!

Absolute favorite piece of the whole room!

Missing the lamp and a picture in the pink frame, but we still have time :) Paisley was blessed with lots of books from her shower last weekend! The teddy bear Aaron gave me on our first Valentine's Day, so now I am passing it on to our daughter :)

Saw this frame at Burlington and had to have it! This is a picture of her little face. She was so stubborn this day, that this is the only decent pic we got of her. She didnt want to be seen :) She loves having her hands around her face, hiding behind the cord, and sucking her thumb. She has my nose and cheeks and Aarons lips. Im in love with her already!!

Last but not least...the bedding!! I had my heart set on a particular bedding, that would have fit in the sassy, girly room, but there was no way that I was going to ever spend $400 on bedding that no one else would have. We tried seeing about buying fabric and having someone else make it, but in the end it wasnt going to save us much, so when I changed my idea back the original plan for the nursery I had no idea what to do. I guess something pink and simple from Pottery Barn was my plan, but my husband intervened and found this one and desperately wanted this one. I wasnt sure at first, even though it was the vintage look I was going for, but after looking at it and looking at it, I knew this was the one. I couldnt be happier with the choice and it makes it all the more special knowing that Paisley's daddy picked this just for her :) Its simple, delicate and clean. Couldnt get any better than that. And it was way cheaper!!

The bottom of the crib skirt has delicate little roses on the bottom. The blanket has a delicate, old vintage print and the sheet has a lacy look to it, but was too hard to get a photo of.

32 Weeks!!

How far along? 32 Weeks...8 months!! (Technically after much research i dont think she is quite the size of a pineapple. I think that is more for next week, so i am guessing my app is a little off)

Due Date: January 11, 2012

Total Weight Gain: 18.5 pounds

Maternity Clothes: capris, some jeans, dresses and leggings

Stretch Marks: No, thank you Jesus!!

Sleep: Some nights are better than others, but for the most part I am worn out at night because I have had lots of energy this week! Yay for getting stuff done!!

Missing Anything? Missing most of my clothes fitting, but I am loving the cooler sweater weather that we are getting!!

Food Cravings: Peanut Butter, Apples, Juice, Pears, Cookies

Anything making you sick? Not this week :)

Movement: Moving lots in my ribs or rolling from one side to the next. She is an active one!

Symptoms: Some round ligament pain, some lower back pain, sometimes the way she is sitting makes me feel extra heavy

Gender: Girl! Paisley Grace

Belly Button: Innie

Rings: Still on!

Mood: Very energetic, but a little stressed this week. We are switching from the birth center to a hospital. Not my ideal plan, but God knows best. Got much accomplished this week!!

Best Moment of the Week: Finishing the nursery and getting some loads of her clothes done!! Everything came together so nicely, not to mention that we are all set to decorate for Christmas next week and Thanksgiving is getting closer!!!

Looking Forward to: Thanksgiving and Aaron getting a break from school to be home with me!!!! We are suppose to do maternity pics today, but will have to reschedule for a later date.

Handy Men

Originally when we started trying to figure out a baby nursery, I knew that I wasnt going to just settle for any kind of changing table, but instead it had to be a dresser and it had to be redone. I mean what fun is it to buy it already done? I wanted something that had our own personal touch to it, and nonetheless, was cheap! When we found out it was a girl, I knew I wanted something vintage and I wanted it white. I spent weeks looking and checking craigslist for deals and trying to find the "perfect" dresser, and after much looking, email and calling we found one that was a bit out of our way but cheap. $40. What a steal! It was exactly what I was looking for, vintage, bit warped with time. It was already white, but to me it looked like we just needed to change the knobs and patch up a few places with white, but was I ever wrong.

Aaron spent many hours sanding and stripping paint, only to discover that there were six layers of paint on the thing. Im sure he was regretting getting into some kind of project like this :) Aaron worked hard, and since we are so busy my father-in-law took over for us and finished :)

Now that its all complete I could not be anymore impressed. I am in love. It might be a bit on the smaller side, but it came out exactly like I had pictured!! Thank you Husband and Papa Tim!!

Before
I have to admit seeing the before and after pictures, I didnt think we had a lot of work at first, but now I realize what had to go into it. It was a bit beat up if I was being honest :)

After
Absolutely love the clear glass knobs and we cleaned the original brass keyholes and placed them back on!

31 Weeks and Counting....

How far along? 31 weeks

Due Date: January 11, 2013, but I am hoping for the end of the year!

Total weight gain: 18 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Leggings, Maternity Jeans, and Sweaters

Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep? Still sleeping good, but maybe thats because I am fighting a cold

Miss Anything? Being able to have all the energy that I use to, to go, go, go.
I am not able to get a whole lot done before I have to sit and take a break.
Missing my back not hurting too.

Movement: She never stops moving! I love it.
She's moving around much higher and most of the time kicks me in the ribs :)
The side and the ribs seem to be here favorite spots at the moment :)

Food cravings: Apples, Oranges, Chocolate, anything sweet...ha!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not currently

Gender: Baby Girl, Paisley Grace

Symptoms: Nothing aside from the obvious, really.
My feet get tired after i've been on them running around all day,
but I'm sure that's just the extra weight.
I havent had any swelling yet which has been nice :)

Belly Button: Innie

Rings: Still on

Happy or Moody: SO happy and excited for her to come

Best Moment this Week:  Making headway on her nursery!!
I got the bookshelf up yesterday and that all done.
Walls are painted, deco is on the walls, bedding was ordered yesterday
and I am hoping that by the end of today my father-in-law will have her dresser
all done so I can get that all put together.
Her closet is done, and maybe, just maybe,
I will be able to convince Aaron to put her crib
together while I am at my shower this weekend :)

Looking forward to: Just her arrival!
I have so much to get done next week, then its Thanksgiving
which leads into so many birthdays and weddings in December
not to mention Christmas, and Aarons school break! Time is flying.
It feels like i have a ways to go, but somehow I know that all those days are
going to just speed past me.
