I Said Yes!

In lieu of Valentine's Day I wanted to share our proposal story!

 

Aaron and I had been dating for 11 months when he asked me. He had just moved to Austin, TX to be with me while I finished school and had only been there for four months before he proposed. Yes, the rest of the months we did long distance, which was the hardest, but best part of our dating relationship. I saw him four times the entire time. Let me just say that its amazing how much communication you have when you have to do it by phone and email.

 

 

 

I had gone home for Christmas to be with my family, leaving him in TX to work. It was hard to leave him behind and the whole time I was home I missed him like crazy. Things the previous weeks had been strange, but now that I know the entire story it all makes perfect sense. Having divorced parents who don't get along whatsoever makes the Holidays pretty hard for us kids. We normally spent Christmas with my dads side of the family and did Christmas with my mom before or after Christmas, but this year it required us traveling Christmas night to be with my mom. I thought it was strange but trusted that this was all for a good reason. I spent most of Christmas really missing Aaron and wishing that he was able to be with me. We carried on our usual Christmas traditions and when it was all said and over we were on our way to Denver, but some surprise with my mom. The roads were terrible. We drove in a blizzard most of the way and I was terrified! Not to mention, it was beyond freezing outside. When we got into Denver there was a display of lights off to the side and knowing my mom it would be something that she would have chosen to do.

 

 

 

 

We pulled into the Trail of Lights and got out. I was not dressed for the occasion seeing as it was only 9 degrees outside! Everyone went a head while my Mom and I hung in the back taking pictures. We came to this little bridge and there was a present in the snow. It made sense. My mom had taken us to do a trail of lights to do a scavenger hunt for our presents. Totally like her! The present looked like a guitar, which is what I had asked for. I opened the gift and sure enough it was my guitar. On it, there read a little note that said, "one thing you thought you left behind will make your Christmas dreams tonight." I was stunned. I had no idea, seeing that there was no possible way Aaron could be with me because he was working and getting to spend a few days with his parents, where he called me from earlier that morning. As I was trying to figure it out, I looked up and there was a guy who looked very similar to Aaron. Being pretty clueless and not really realizing it was Aaron, he walked right up to me, got down on one knee and proposed!

 

 

 

It was beyond what I had ever pictured in my head of how a proposal would go. He had flown in the day before, spent Christmas day with my mom, stepdad and grandparents and then surprised me Christmas night to ask me to be his wife!  Everyone was in on the surprise, and I will admit I acted like a brat, but at the end of the day I was one lucky girl! What I had waited for my entire life had finally come true! I got my knight in shining armor!

Five on Friday!

What an insane week it has been!! We have literally gone nonstop since Sunday and while I am trying to catch my breath, I am looking forward to a much needed Valentine's date night out with my hubby! I have some exciting news to share in this post so lets get started!!

Michaels has these beautiful notebooks right now in there spring collection and as you can see I have started myself a little collection. Too cute to pass up!

With my insane schedule right now I was looking to find a planner at a very reasonable price and I found this one at Target and have been somewhat impressed! It was clearance, but the only downside is depending on the pen you use it bleeds through, but nonetheless it does the job and it looks cute!

If you have missed the exciting announcement here it is! After lots of talk and planning, I have launched my own photography business. I am starting out doing a few things for a community magazine publishing company and am taking it from there. I did my first shoot Monday and it was a success! It was a lot of fun and super low key. My first family made all the nerves disappear!

 

Picking the name was the hardest part, but we decided on....

 

 

 

Paisley Grace was our inspiration. I mean she pretty much rules the roost in our home :) {in a good way}

I just want to say thank you to all my faithful readers who stick around!

In case some of you haven't heard the exciting news check it out!

 

With that exciting news its taking away from a lot of the "down" time that I had previously. I haven't been able to blog as much I really would like to, and while I am still trying to build my blog and trying to get a business established its hard to balance the two on top of taking care of my family.

 

Having all that said, I don't really want to let my blog go, I want to keep it going but I am going to need a little help.

Mommy & Me

I shared some pretty big news in case you missed it! I am finally taking the plunge and diving into the photography world! I am excited and nervous but its going to be a great and fun adventure!

 

My first shoot is today and yesterday to calm some of the nerves, the hubs, Paisley Grace and I went to the location I will be shooting and took a few pics to figure out our lighting and some ideas. I am so darn pleased with how these came out!

 

And just because I cant get enough of her sweet face or how these came out, I am sharing a few extras :)

An Exciting Annoucement

Before you get yourselves all hyped up thinking that baby dos is on the way, just hold tight, that day will come...eventually. BUT, I do have other exciting news!!

 

For a long, long while, several years per say, the hubs and I have always said that we would love to get ourselves into photography, and well after talking about it for what seems like forever, we are finally doing it!! We are taking the plunge!

 

I am excited and nervous all at the same time! I have been working hard to get pricing figured out, forms created, facebook page, still needing a website and a few meetings, but its all complete and my first shoot is today!!

 

I am starting out by shooting for a publishing company that highlights certain communities in the Tampa Bay area. I have been given an awesome opportunity and I am so thrilled to be getting started and living out a small dream of mine.

 

We chose Paisley Sunshine Photography after our sweet Paisley Grace and I am pleased with our name choice. We racked our brains like none other trying to come up with something different and unique instead of a first and last name and we couldn't top Paisley Sunshine. My sweet hubs did all the design stuff with a little help of etsy and I think he did a fab job ladies and gents!

 

Wow that was a lot to spit out! Please stay tuned for more details as I move forward in this exciting adventure!

Happy Friday

Hello Lovelies!

 

I have yet to get my Five up for Friday, thanks to being sick...AGAIN!! I am gladly welcoming any advice to boost our immune systems because getting sick on a weekly basis is somewhat ridiculous!!

 

I will share this...stay tuned for some exciting news that I will be sharing sometime in the next few days!!

Mommy & Me: Zoo Edition

Mommy & Me is a day late, but nonetheless I'm still getting it up in the same week. Paisley has been a wreck for the last number of days. I know she is feeling better, but I am not sure why the tears and the fussiness are still happening. Poor girl. Getting sick is rough!!

 

 

For Paisley's first birthday we took her to the zoo, and while it was a little colder of a day and we didnt get to see all the animals, we all still had a blast. My favorite part was the monkeys at the very end and I will explain why towards the end of the post. Yes, that means you have to hang around :)

 

 

Paisley got her morning nap in and then we left for the zoo. We got to spend a good three hours there, which was plenty for all of us, and by the end Paisley was completely wiped out! So much to see in one day for a girl. Even though she wont remember this, it was a great first birthday for her, complete with chocolate cake!

 

We got to feed and pet the goats, which I am sure if you ask Paisley that was her favorite part :)

 

Next we ventured around and saw a few animals we knew and a few that were new to all of us!

 

 

 

 

Dadda and Pais had a little fun too!

 

 

 

They had a baby elephant that came out as we were leaving and it was the cutest thing ever! He went everywhere his momma went. Unfortunately he was too far to get a picture.

 

The turtles. Oh the turtles. Some were the size of Paisley and it was so funny seeing her stand there and point, them swim up to her and everyone laugh because she was the size of them.

 

 

My favorite part of the day was seeing the monkeys towards the end. There was a monkey that came right up towards us on a rock and sat there and stared at Paisley. He would bob his head and Paisley would bob her head and the two did this for almost ten minutes. Funniest thing I have ever seen!

 

 

If Paisley could have taken one animal home, this fella would have been it! I mean he's cute right??

 

And no birthday is ever complete without someone singing and a slice of cake, and that is what this little girl got to finish out her special day! And because she was so hyped up after eating cake, we spent an hour playing at Cracker Barrel so that she would wear down some of that energy. Birthdays are so much better with little ones. There is lots of magic and lots of fun that they bring!

 

 

Best day ever!!
