Workout Wednesday

Hello Lovelies!
This week I want to share one of my favorite conditioning exercises from when I was in gymnastics. I was a gymnast for most of my life and I miss it somewhat, or let me rephrase, I miss being in better shape!
This is a simple exercise but killer as why its called Count Killers.

For a first timer trying this, maybe start somewhere between 10-15.
This is how it goes: (Im choosing 15)

15 Jumping Jacks
15 Straight Jumps
15 Scissor Kicks/Jumps

Once you complete all 15, you move to 14, then 13, then 12, then 11, then 10 (never stopping unless you absolutely need to)
Ok you get the idea. Simple right? Will your legs be burning afterwards....you bet!!

Just for Fun :)

Hope this week is treating you all swell!

Bittersweet

September is kinda a hard month for me this year, well the start of next week might be a tough week.
Last January we found out we were pregnant and 24 hours after finding out we had a little one on the way, I started to bleed. At first everyone told me that it was normal, everything that I found on the internet {bad idea} said bleeding in the beginning was normal as long as there was no cramping. There was none. Few hours later, the blood went from a dark red color to a bright red color and cramps started to follow. I remember being scared and so sad, but still had hope that God was going to work through this situation.

I wanted to deliver at a Birthing Center, so I called the one that we had chosen and signed up for the tour, but also told them what was happening. They asked me to keep an eye on things, and if the bleeding didnt get any better, chances are I was heading for a miscarriage. They asked me to come for the tour still and then they would like to sit down with us and schedule an appointment to check my HCG levels.

Few hours later and the cramping and bleeding had not stopped. I was panicking and somehow feeling the worst fear of my life. There is something about seeing the word "pregnant" on that stick and feeling like your whole life is changing before your eyes. You arent responsible for just you anymore. You become selfless to take care of that little extra life inside of you. I somehow at 6 weeks felt so connected to the little human being growing inside of me. Not to mention, we were over the moon excited, especially since God had been speaking to us to get ready because we were going to have a baby soon.

We went to the tour that evening, met with the midwife, who prepared us for the worst, but had us coming in the following morning to check my levels. I remember leaving the Birth Center and just crying and just begging and praying that God would spare this little life. That He wouldnt let me suffer like this and He wouldnt take away the one thing that He had promised us. Despite knowing the worst and being prepared for the worst, I had hope. I believe in a big God and I knew that in some ways miracles still do happen. I knew it wasnt impossible for God to fix the situation and to change the outcome. I prayed. I pleaded with everything in me.

We went the following morning to have tests ran. As I was having to leave a urine sample, I remember crying in the restroom. I didnt understand. I didnt understand why God would promise us something only to take it away before we even got to just be excited about it. To relish in the fact that a baby was on the way! I didnt understand how we could go from being on such a high to being in such a low place. It felt surreal. It felt as if a part of me was being ripped and stolen from my life. I cant explain it.

The nurse taking my blood didnt have much to say except for the usual "its not your fault. There was nothing you could have done." The results took a day to come back and when they came back she said it was really low. I thought ok, "maybe, I am just not as far along as I thought I was." The midwife assured me that this was a miscarriage and to just keep an eye on everything and more than likely I would be passing this baby naturally.

I woke up the following morning in severe pain. I remember running to the restroom and blood just flowing. My worst nightmare was happening before my eyes and there was nothing that we could do. We called and they said we were heading for the end. I cried. I screamed. I was angry. I was angry at God. I didnt understand why He would take this baby. All I wanted was a baby. I was numb. Grief overcame every emotion that I could feel. I wanted it to be different. I wanted a happy ending. I wanted this baby.

Thursday morning, I woke up and felt this urge like something was about to happen. Again, I ran to the restroom {sorry TMI} and there I passed the last clot. As soon as I passed the end of what was happening, my body immediately went back to feeling normal. Its a feeling that I wont ever forget. I went from feeling so connected to this little life, to feeling nothing. To feeling completely normal. I crawled back into bed and sobbed. I felt empty. I felt disappointed. So many of my friends were right at the same stage I was and they were celebrating, letting family and friends know, planning, dreaming what their baby would look like, and here I was empty. My baby gone. I wasnt moving forward with them.

I prayed more. I asked God why. I cried. Nothing could have prepared me for what just happened. In a blink of an eye everything changed so quickly. I thought it was the end of the world. I wanted to feel anything other than what I was feeling in those moments. I knew God had given us a promise and it was hard to see past the hurt to the bigger picture. I wanted a baby now. Not later. Now.

For months I felt empty and so sad. It was hard watching bellies pop and babies being healthy while I was having to live without mine, but something arose inside of me and gave me hope that God did give us a promise. All I could do in the midst of my grief was to stand on what God had spoken and wait for the right timing.

Its hard to see past our hurt for something better. We just think its about us and when WE can have a baby, but so quickly did I forget that God also had a plan for that baby. The baby growing inside of me and you, has a plan, has a destiny, has a story to be told.

I waited for several months and when I knew we could try again we did. Looking back on the heart break, I am so glad that God took me through what He did. We have been blessed abundantly with the sweetest baby girl now, and had I not been taken through what we experienced, I dont know if we would have had Paisley. We would have loved that baby, but Paisley is the joy that comes from the heart ache. I dont feel sad anymore about what happened, because God did turn that situation into something bigger. There is a plan and a destiny for Paisley and I know that it will be a big plan for her. Losing our first baby shaped me into the right Mom that I need to be for Paisley. It made me stronger. It made me see God in a different way. Though the road was painful, I couldnt be more thankful for the blue-eyed smile I get to relish in every morning. Or the sweetest little giggle that brings music to my ears. So many woman experience miscarriage and its heart breaking, but I also needed to experience that to trust my God even deeper than I already did. It rocked my world, but I am a better person for it. This month is hard knowing that we would have had a one year old, but I know that we have a baby waiting for us on the other side of eternity.

There may be pain in the night but joy really does come in the morning.

How to Make Blog Buttons

Hello Blogger Friends!

So many of you have asked or were curious how to make your own blog buttons. I wanted to share with you the tutorial that I used to make mine. I am still experimenting and trying to get it all figured out, but for the time being I will include the buttons that I have made so far. They are easy to make, and kind of fun, kind of addicting. I was able to get it on my first try and for someone who doesnt do a whole lot of coding and such this was a big deal! I just followed the steps to a tee and voila, you have a button that you can now swap, or maybe feel more official :)

Without further ado here is the tutorial that I used: Blog Button Tutorial
Follow the steps for picmonkey and its super simple!
If you are wanting a white background just save a white background image from google to your computer. Just make sure that it is big enough to do what you are wanting.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me or comment below so I can help you. I will generally respond later that day :)

Here are the ones I have made so far:

200x200

200x200

150x150

180x180

300x150

There's lots that you can do and lots to experiment with. Am I overly satisfied with what I have made so far? Kinda. Could be better, but its a start at least AND best part about it is that I did it myself!!

I am still figuring out how to include the box code for each button in this post instead of just adding it to the sidebar. I will update as soon as I figure it out ;) OR if one of you passing by reading this knows how, please let me know!

Hope this helps some of you!

My Everyday Love

Birthday Weekend Recap

In honor of the hubs birthday today, we celebrated all weekend long! Here is how it went....

Friday:

Because we have been on the go so much since all this house stuff, we both decided we were really tired to go out and do much so we opted for chinese take-out, redbox, gummy bears and M&Ms to complete our night. We also caught ourselves up on Rookie Blue and Masterchef. We rarely ever spend Friday in so it was a nice change of pace for us and relaxing too. We rented At Any Price with Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron. It was a decent movie, but one that is not worth watching twice.

Saturday:

Im kind of wishing this day we could start over and have a redo of, but what was sad and heartbreaking turned into a good rest of the day. I got up and made the hubs Birthday Cake Pancakes {recipe to come} which were amazing! We got ourselves ready and were headed out the door to Kissimmee for Chuys when we had a little accident. Paisley fell out of her carseat backwards and landed on the tile. She was ok, but since my hubby was carrying her and it happened with him, he fell to the floor just sobbing and so upset that, that had happened. She was fine and was completely happy a few minutes later. She didnt even cry that hard, but for us first timers it was quite the shock!!! This incident left us home for sometime until I made my hubby get up and get out to go have some fun and get our minds off of it all. We drove to Clearwater Beach and ate at the Columbia which has the best spanish ever!! After we ate an early dinner, we drove down to Johns Pass to get a little Kilwins Ice Cream and to just hang out around the water. Then back home it was for this ole folk to get up early. If you seriously havent ever had Kilwin's before....I suggest you RUN and find one near you! Their Toasted Coconut ice cream is to die for, to die for!!

she got to meet Lisa the talking parrot

Happy Birthday flan!

Telling Dadda its ok :)

Sunday:

We spent the morning at church and then for some spontaneous fun, we drove to Kissimmee for real this time and had Chuy's {Only thing the hubs requested for his birthday} and then it was home sweet home for a night swim. I think we have a little swimmer on our hands because the girl wouldn't stop moving or giggling :)

All in all, it was a GREAT weekend!! Here's to you my love!! Happy Birthday!!

Birthday Cake Pancakes

I made these for my husbands birthday and these honestly were way beyond what I thought they would be! Such a fun, new birthday tradition we will be adding to the Foltz household!

Warning: These are very sweet, but so delish and addicting!

I combined several recipes together, because the first one I chose didnt have eggs, but was lacking in flavor so I found another recipe and added a few things from it, which gave it the taste that I was going for. The glaze is super simple too. Now go make these!!

Ingredients:

3/4 C Pancake Mix {I used whole foods buttermilk brand}
1 C Yellow Cake Mix
1 1/2 C Water
1/3 C Milk
1 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
Pinch of Salt

Glaze Ingredients:

1 C Powdered Sugar
1 Tbsp Milk
1/2 Tsp Vanilla
2 Tbsp Butter
Sprinkles

Directions:

1. Mix all pancake ingredients together in a bowl. If its too thick, add a little more milk to get desired consistency. If you want more of a cakey flavor, then add more cake mix, but I found 1 cup to be just the right amount

2. Preheat a skillet to medium low heat. Spray with cooking spray. Pour batter into 1/4 cup measurements onto skillet

3. Let cook till bubbles form on top {2-3 minutes} and flip to other side. Serve with Vanilla Glaze

4. For Vanilla Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla until glaze forms. You may need to add a little more milk until you reach desired consistency so that it can be drizzled over pancakes.

5. Sprinkle, sprinkles on top when you have added the glaze onto the pancakes and enjoy!
**Makes 8 large pancakes

Easy peasy!

Five on Friday

Its Friday, Its Friday!!
Which, is also birthday celebrations for the hubs this weekend!!

One:

Finally feeling more blogger official!! Its been a long time coming and I have finally found the time to sit down and figure out making blog buttons and creating them! Finally have one up on the blog!! Would love to swap with anyone if you would so like to do so :)

Two:

I have been on the hunt for the perfect jogging stroller without having to spend a fortune, and while I wanted the Jeep unlimited stroller or whatever that gismo is, I just couldnt bring myself to pay the money just so I could have the built in speakers to listen to music. Instead.....Target has their baby sale this week and I was able to score the last Baby Trend jogging stroller! And for the cheaper price tag, and not breaking the bank I am very, very satisfied with my purchase! It drives so smoothly and Paisley LOVES being able to sit up and look around :)

Loving her stroller!!

Three:

The hubs is turning 28 on Monday so we have lots of celebrating to do! Not sure what is in store for us, but nonetheless, let the celebration commence!!

Four:

I am dying over this new CD from Bethel called Tides. We were able to listen to it already during their 24 hour listening party a few weeks ago and there is not one song that I do not like. If you love Worship music, go buy this one fast!! You will not regret it :) P.S. If you have a Family Christian nearby, they have a coupon for SATURDAY ONLY for 40% off...

Five:

I have a few guest posts appearing sometime within this month!! Be checking A Nelson's Nest and Never the Same Spice Twice for them!! I couldnt be more excited and more honored to be guest posting anywhere! There is some fun in store!!

That shall do it for this week!! Have a fantabulous weekend friends!!
